Photographer ‘Muyiwa Osifuye has been documenting the cultural heritage of Nigeria since 1996. His photographs go beyond the commonly held preconceptions about Africa. Whether recording traditional customs, women in their vocational roles, kings or the harsh realities of widespread economic hardship, his images suggest a proud and resistant people.

After his 2005 dialogue with UK-based artist Leo Asemota, imagine art after commissioned Osifuye to create a new work for exhibition at Tate Britain, Kaabiyesi: Courts of Influence.
