Addisalem Bizuwork’s paintings tell vibrant stories about everyday life in Ethiopia and effortlessly combine sophisticated pictorial strategies with the decorative painting tradition of her native country. Bizuwork’s recent work draws on the experience of her urban life in contemporary Addis Ababa. She uses the Ethiopian calendar to sign her work.
After her 2005 dialogue with UK-based artist Senayt Samuel, imagine art after commissioned Bizuwork to create a new work for exhibition at Tate Britain, To Live.
